Overview: Papers on any theme or problem in philosophy are welcome. Presented papers will be published in the Society's journal, Southwest Philosophy Review. The Society gives an annual award of $100 to the best paper accepted for the program written by a graduate student or recent Ph.D. (degree must have been granted within three years of the meeting). Authors who are eligible for the prize should indicate this on the cover page of their submission.
Submissions: Electronic submissions are required and should be sent to swpssubmissions@gmail.com and contain "SWPS 2013 Conference" in the subject line.
Papers must be in MS Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf). Papers submitted in any other format cannot be processed. Papers may not exceed 3000 words in length, and those over 3000 words will not be considered. Submissions should include a word count and 150 word abstract (not counted in total word count) on the title page. Papers should not contain any information identifying the author of the submission.
In a separate title page document, please submit the following: title of the paper, abstract of the paper, author's name, affiliation, email address and phone number.
Submission deadline: Papers must be received by Friday, 12 July 2013.

UPDATED HOTEL INFORMATION:The hotel for this year's annual meeting is the Radisson Hotel & Suites Town Lakes/Downtown Austin. The society has negotiated rates of $129.00/night (excluding applicable taxes). Conference attendees must make their own reservations by October 28 to secure these rates!! Registration fee for the conference is $60.
Annual membership dues are $40 for faculty and $20 for graduate students.
Banquet cost is between $32 and $25 (depending on entree).
PAYMENT: Please be prepared to pay for the conference registration, banquet fees (if you are attending the banquet) and membership fees (if you have not done so already) at the conference registration table. The Society is not equipped to handle credit cards. Please bring a check or cash.
Even if you aren't attending the conference, we still need the financial support that your membership dues provide. BANQUET DETAILS: Our banquet will be held at Cafe 1912, 243 South Cooper Street. Because this is two or so miles from the hotel, we are organizing car pools to the banquet in advance. If you plan to rent a car once you get to Memphis, or if you are traveling under your own steam to get to the conference, we hope you'll volunteer to help ferry banquet-goers to Cafe 1912 on Friday night.
Participants should have gotten an email with a list of banquet menu options and a non-binding questionnaire about transportation information (i.e., whether you'll need a ride or be able to give one). Travel Information: Two airports service Dallas, DFW International Airport and Love Field. Love Field is closer to downtown Dallas, the location of the conference, and is smaller and easier to get around. DFW is the larger of the two, and thus can offer more flight options. The estimated driving time from Love Field to the Magnolia Hotel is fifteen to twenty minutes and from DFW is twenty five to thirty minutes in normal traffic. Registering and Joining
Presenters must register for conference and join the Society. All others need only register though membership in the Society is heartily encouraged.The registration fee for the conference (and Society membership) can be paid at the conference. Anyone choosing to register or join early can contact the membership director, Randy Auxier, by mail with a check. The banquet is not part of the registration fee. It is optional, $32, and no advance notice is necessary. Let the organizers know at the registration table if you're coming to the banquet.
